Great stories don’t begin when the camera starts rolling—they begin with an idea. Bringing that idea to life requires collaboration, creativity, and the ability to connect with an audience long after production wraps. My years working alongside filmmaker Addison Henderson and Night Owl Republic Films reinforced that lesson in every stage of the creative process.
Our professional relationship began long before feature films. I photographed Addison’s engagement session and later his destination wedding in Mexico through my wedding photography company, Rockstar Wedding Photos. Those experiences built a creative partnership rooted in trust, collaboration, and a shared passion for visual storytelling—one that would eventually grow into multiple film projects.
Helping Bring Givers of Death to Life
One of our most rewarding collaborations came with Givers of Death, Addison Henderson’s ambitious independent sci-fi thriller that went on to secure distribution across multiple streaming platforms.
My role extended well beyond taking photographs. I was responsible for promotional photography, graphic design, motion graphics, social media marketing, and developing promotional campaigns designed to introduce audiences to the film long before its release.
One of my favorite contributions was creating the official promotional photography used throughout the film’s marketing campaign, including imagery featured on the movie’s official poster. Every image was created with marketing in mind—designed not simply to document the production, but to communicate the tone, emotion, and identity of the film.
Working on Givers of Death reinforced something I’ve believed throughout my career: creating exceptional work is only half the battle. Whether you’re releasing an independent feature film or launching a small business, success depends on your ability to tell a compelling story and build excitement around it before your audience ever experiences the final product.
Behind the Camera
Our collaboration continued on Just One Before I Die, Addison’s upcoming documentary chronicling the passion and unwavering loyalty of Buffalo Bills fans.
For this production, I served as a camera operator, FAA-certified drone pilot, and contributed to the film’s web presence. Documentary filmmaking demands a completely different mindset than commercial production. Instead of directing moments, you’re constantly anticipating them—capturing authentic emotion as it unfolds naturally.
That ability to recognize meaningful moments has become one of the greatest assets I bring to every commercial client and marketing campaign.
Lessons That Changed My Marketing Career
My work in film fundamentally changed the way I approach marketing.
Film taught me that audiences don’t connect with products—they connect with stories.
They connect with emotion.
They remember authenticity.
Whether I’m producing promotional content for a feature film, documenting behind-the-scenes moments, or building a marketing campaign for a local business, the principles remain remarkably similar. Every project starts by identifying what makes that story worth telling and how to present it in a way that captures attention and earns trust.
Those experiences continue to shape the work I do today through Brand-Aid, where I help businesses build memorable brands using strategic storytelling, photography, video production, motion graphics, and creative marketing.
Because in today’s world, attention is earned through compelling stories—not just advertising.
